Why is gravity an example of a scientific law?

-- It explains so many things that we see happening around us.

-- So many of its predictions are true when they're tested.

-- It is so successful when we use it, for example, to navigate spacecraft.

that it has become accepted as a law of nature.

(At least until something comes along that explains and predicts things
more accurately than the Law of Gravity does.)
