3x+4y=8
4y = -3x + 8; slope = -3
parallel lines, slope is the same so slope = -3
passes through (2,-5)
y  = mx + b
b = y - mx
b = -5 - (-3)(2)
b = -5 + 6
b = 1

equation
y = -3x +1

hope it helps

Answer:

y=-.75x-3.5

Step-by-step explanation:

3x+4y=8

4y=-3x+8

then you are going to divide -3x and 8 by 4

y=-.75x+2

Then you put it in point slope form y-y1=m(x-x1)

y+5=-.75(x-2)

y+5=-.75x+1.5

y=-.75x-3.5

Hope this helps!
