True. They were a Germanic tribe that lived in the East in the 5th century AD. Most probably, they lived on the territory of today's Poland. Thanks to many fights for supremacy, the Vandals ended up on the Iberian peninsula and even across the Mediterranean sea, in North Africa. They entered the popular culture as a synonym of barbarous tribes who destroyed everything in their sight. In truth, they weren't better or worse than their contemporaries in this respect.
