2x+3y=36
2x+3(6)=36
2x+18=36
2x=18
x=9

2x+3y=36 when y=6

2x+(3)(6)=36


Simplify

2x+18=36

Subtract 18 from both sides.

2x+18−18=36−18

2x=18

Divide both sides by 2.

2x/2=18/2

x=9
