The sum of three consecutive odd numbers is 111. What is the smallest of the three numbers? Please write an equation and show all work.

Numbers are:

2x+1, 2x+3, 2x+45

Sum:

2x+1+2x+3+2x+5=111
6x=111-9
6x=102
x=17

Smaller = 2x+1 = 35
