These molecules are called free radicals. Free radicals have an unpaired electron which can damage our cells. Antioxidants prevent damage by pairing an electron with the unpaired electron, or by neutralizing the free radical module. Eating a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables can provide the antioxidants people need.
