The effect that  'h' have on the graph of a parabola is Horizontal shift or translation .

What is translation?

A translation is the movement of  a shape up, down , this can also be movement from side to side.

Even though there is movement,   its appearance remains the same in any other way, hence, h values cause left or right movement with respect to the graph.
