Separating a mixture of salt and sand will involve two main techniques such as filtration and evaporation.

What is Filtration?

This is a technique which is used to separate a fluid from a solid matter such as sand etc.

Since salt dissolves in the water, the fluid is collected using the filter paper placed inside the funnel. After which it enters the Erlenmeyer flask and is heated to allow for evaporation of water and collection of the salt.
