At the end of the year there is a student vs faculty basketball game. Everyone loves to go to this game to watch their
favorite teachers look old and slow. Then become shocked when we win!!!!! Freshman have to buy tickets for $2 each,
and upperclassman have to buy tickets for 5$ each! Mr. Ankley collected a total of a total of $3,210 and sold 750
tickets
On a piece of paper, you need to write a system of equations to model this story!
Use:
x = the number of freshman tickets
y = the number of upperclassman tickets.

so 2 for a freshman ticket and 5 for everyone else

so equation 1

y + x = 750

equation 2

2y + 5x = 3210

we can plug in now after we simplify

y = 750 - x

2y = 1500 - 2x

now we plug in to equation 2

1500 - 2x + 5x = 3210

1710 = 3x

1710 / 3 = x

x = 570

now plug back in to first equation

570 + y = 750

y = 180
