What was the outcome of conflicts between Native Americans & the U.S. military on the plains?

For the answer to the question above, the settlers wanted the land for themselves. 

When the Native Americans already living there refused to just hand it over and move to reservations hundreds of miles away, the US government sent troops in to shoot them and take it by force, a policy that many native Americans forcibly resisted.
