Cells made during meiosis are haploid. This means that they have a half set of chromosomes. They will form into gametes (egg or sperm). Why must gametes be haploid?

Because the sperm and the egg fuse the cell will have 46 chromosomes. polar bodies produced during meiosis which are smaller in size compared to the gamete and will disintegrate
