Polar covalent bonds hold atoms together in a water (H2O) molecule since H (non-metal) is bonded to O (which is also a non-metal), so they'll need to SHARE electrons (covalent), not to mention H2O is POLAR because of O (-> O has a [-] charge compared to H [+]),  so there's an unequal sharing of electrons.

Hydrogen bonds hold together the atoms in a water molecule. A single water molecule is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
