The Commutative property of addition states that you can switch or "commute" the numbers around in an addition problem and still get the same sum.

For example: 3+2=6 is the same as 2+3=6.

The commutative property of addition says that changing the order of the addends does not change the sum. Let's look at an example.

2 + 3 = 3 + 2
