x=15a/2. the way you get this is by simpifying both sides of the equation then isolate the variable. hoped this helped :)

5x-8a=3x+7a    first solve for x by isolating x on one side of the equation

5x-3x-8a=7a      subtract 3x from each side leaving 7a alone combine like terms

2x-8a=7a      isolate x by adding 8a to both sides of the equation

2x=15a          x=15a/2
