When scientists study distant galaxies what do they look for?

They look for many things, although most important ones are earlier pictures of that frame since light takes a long time to travel back due to space being so infinitely big.

They aim first at light...if they found a galaxy. Galaxies that we are able to observed is called "Observe-able Galaxy"
