For a rectangle:
[tex]A = w*l [/tex]
Since A = 864, and W = 2/3L:
[tex]W = \frac{2}{3}L [/tex]
[tex]864=L* \frac{2}{3}L [/tex]
[tex]864 = \frac{2}{3}L^{2} [/tex]
[tex]1296=L^{2}[/tex]
[tex] \sqrt{L^{2}} = L = 36 [/tex]
