Using PEMDAS
(Parenthesis)(Exponents)(Multiplication/Division)(Addition/Subtration)
So:
[tex] \frac{5}{8} * ((54-22)-45) = \frac{5}{8}*(32-45) = \frac{5}{8}(-13)[/tex]
[tex]= \frac{-65}{8}[/tex][tex]= -8.125[/tex]
