a carton measures 3 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet. A machine can fill the carton with packaging material in 3 seconds. How long would it take to fill a carton that measures 4 feet by 5 feet by 6 feet?
3 × 2 × 2 = 12 feet cubed ( the volume of the carton) 4 × 5 × 6 = 120 feet cubed (the volume of the carton) if it takes 3 seconds to fill a carton with a volume of 12 then how long will it take to fill a carton with a volume of 120? 12÷3= 4 therefore 4 feet cubed is the amount of space that the carton will be filled with per second. 120 ÷ 4 = 30 therefore it takes 30 seconds to fill a carton that measures 4 feet by 5 feet by 6 feet.
