You add the numbers, then keep the sign of the largest absolute value

Absolute value- The non negative value of a number

Ex) if you had -3 the absolute value would be 3. if you had 3 the absolute value would be 3

Ex) -6+4= -2

Because when you ADD 4 to -6 you are going up so -5, -4, -3, -2. Then -6 has the largest absolute value which would just be 6 so you take the negative sign
