3 1/4 cups of oatmeal

How many 1/4 cups, would be:    3  1/4  ÷  1/4

=  13 / 4 ÷ 1/4

=  13 / 4  ×  4/1

= 13/1

= 13

She will use 13  one fourth cups.

Well it is simple, basically all you need to do is make this mixed number into an improper fraction. so 3 1/4 would be equivalent to 13/4 (how we got that was multiplying 3 times4 which = 12 + 1 = 13) so now we know that she will use 13 1/4 cups of oatmeal
