You don’t ever have to go at it alone. I believe that everyone needs a support system and so therapy is a place where that can happen. I often describe my work as a journey as much of my role in this work involves being a co-pilot or co-author of your story. I seek to help individuals become the best version of themselves as they work through unresolved issues, trauma, or maladaptive patterns that have led to stuckness or got in the way of their happiness.
As your therapist, I will encourage you to integrate all parts of yourself by becoming aware of much of what has shaped who you are. My goal is not to change you, or fix you, but to help you arrive at what essentially is most powerful and meaning to you.
I have experience working with LGBTQ individuals, relationship issues (couples counseling), individuals struggling with stage of life problems, transitions, adjustment related issues, acculturative stressors, depression, anxiety, bipolar related disorders, personality disorders, trauma-related disorders, schizophrenia, and neurocognitive disorders.
I also have lots of experience working with individuals from disadvantaged populations namely clients from low socioeconomic backgrounds, minorities, and immigrants. I draw heavily from existential and psychodynamic practices and use other approaches based on the needs of my client. I follow a multicultural approach in understanding the dynamics of power, privilege and oppression with regard to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, sex, gender, ability/disability and spirituality.
I strongly believe in the power of therapy and highly recommend that Black Men, and Women get the support that they need in improving their health and wellness. Let’s make mental health a priority. #Blacktherapy, #Blacklove.
