Dr. Derek Novacek offers expertise in evidence-based treatments for anxiety, depression, and interpersonal stressors. He practices a collaborative and strengths-based approach that integrates sociocultural factors as appropriate and in line with his notable research on this topic, including this recent peer-reviewed paper: Mental Health Ramifications of the Covid-19 Pandemic for Black Americans.
While seeing clients at Therapy Lab, Dr. Novacek also works at the Los Angeles VA Clinic. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and Ph.D. from Emory University. He completed his clinical internship at UCLA and postdoctoral fellowship at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center.
Dr. Novacek works clinically with the supervision of Dr. Valencia Harriott (CA #32507) as he completes his final steps towards licensure.
In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
