From an early age, I have always noticed the need for more mental health resources in my communities. As a queer black man, therapy was never advertised to me or to those who looked and thought as I do. I had to tackle the intersections of my identity on my own and it was never easy. There are a number of reasons why Black, Brown and queer people don't seek mental health services and I am here to break those barriers.

Expressing our emotions is human and not something we should see as feminine. Unchecked emotions can lead to anger and resentment that feel uncontrollable. If you grew up not having space to talk about your emotions with caregivers, you may have learned to suppress your emotions. As an adult, seeking therapy can feel scary and uncomfortable because the process is centered around understanding emotions.

One of my specialties is working with clients who struggle to express emotions. As a counselor in training, I am passionate about helping people feel seen and validated in their experiences while in therapy. I can help you learn to identify and process your emotions, build and maintain healthy boundaries, identify triggers, and foster healthy relationships. My approach as a counselor is humanistic and person-centered, always prioritizing comfort and safety.
