Hey it's Twan,
I am a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern in beautiful South Florida. I am known to many as "The Expectation Grief Specialist", as much of my work with clients centers the impact that grief, in its many forms, plays in many of our presenting challenges. While grief of all types is an area of passion and expertise, I am skilled to help you address many issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma-related challenges, coping with major life changes, bereavement, and relationship issues.
My private practice is a place for those who feel stuck, burdened by the weight of both expectations placed on them by others as well as extremely high expectations placed on self. This is a space for those frustrated by their current situation and who are ready for a serious change. This is a space for soul seekers who have made the decision to live a fuller, more fulfilled, and more satisfying life and are ready to take those first steps. My treatment style is “Empowerment Through Self-Awareness”, and is based on the premise that everything that you need to live your best life is already inside of you and just needs to be unleashed. I take a journey with you in knowing yourself on a deeper level, further empowering you to take effective action in your life. Whether your issue is anger, anxiety, depression, trauma, marital and/ or family strife, sexual orientation or gender identity- related... it’s all grief... and unhealed grief keeps us stuck. I’m here to help you identify what you’re grieving, move forward in healing from it, and get yourself un-stuck so you can move forward.
I work with individuals ages 11 and up, and provide a focus on helping people survive and thrive in the systems they live in, with particular focus on the ever present role that unresolved grief plays in many of our situations in which we feel “stuck”- unable to move forward with life. My clients benefit from learning what it is that is causing them to feel stuck, and then becoming empowered to take effective action in their own lives toward getting “un-stuck”. Sometimes this includes freeing oneself from the bondage of expectations, which can sometimes keep us from living as our truest and most authentic self.
I am a strong advocate for all gender minorities, to include cisgender women, women of color, and trans-identified individuals.
I am a fierce defender of every child’s right to live and grow in a supportive and loving environment, and a champion for families.
I am an advocate for human rights for all people. My therapy office is a safe space for all people. LGBTQ+ friendly, Trans-Competent, Kink-friendly, and Competent in issues related to Individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
