"Seeking counseling is one of the bravest acts one can perform. You've taken the first step to transforming your life. Therapy will support you to identify ways of managing symptoms, develop coping skills to over come obstacles, as well as promote insight and self awareness." - Dr. Alfonso Ferguson

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and Florida, as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey. I am passionate about helping others overcome distress and dissatisfaction in their lives. In a therapeutic setting, I have worked with and understand various communities from different races, sex, gender identities, sexual orientations, religions, cultures, and economic classes. I specialize in providing healing spaces along with culturally responsive services to Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC), Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ+), and other disenfranchised communities to work through emotional distress, trauma, relationship challenges, and identity development. I provide counseling services to individuals, couples, adolescents, and families. I use my knowledge, experience, and research to provide culturally responsive counseling services to foster understanding, healing, and guidance to create safer spaces for all. My personal and professional experiences have prepared me to provide culturally sensitive care to all individuals.

One of the most important components to therapy is the therapeutic alliance. The therapist-client relationship creates a space for clients to openly work through problems that impair functioning. My multicultural and social justice training allows me to curate personalized treatment plans using an intersectional framework that supports understanding around a clients unique identities (i.e., gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, etc.). Further, my training helps clients to effectively identify what may contribute to psychological and community stressors. As a culturally competent counselor, I practice from a person-centered therapeutic approach in order to immediately address unique barriers to happy living. As a cultural competent clinician, I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Gesalt Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Harm Reduction Therapy techniques.
