Meet Paul Garwood
What choice do you have when it is just not fun anymore?
I had transitioned from retiring from a major airline at 46, getting my degree and working in the corporate world as a personal injury adjuster and I loved it. I like to help people and being able to help someone through the traumatic event of a auto accident was right up my alley.
As time went on through each I started to dread cases that I got. All those cases are important but the only thing that changes are the names. The thrill was definitely gone. It was time for a career change, to do something different.
I had to examine my options.
Look for another job.
Even with my experience running from one insurance company to another like I would see some of my co-workers do would not solve the problem. Which led to the next complication:
Develop my own business.
Nearly a decade earlier, I discovered coaching — as in “Are you kidding me? You mean there is actually a profession for something I’ve been doing as a part of my regular job my entire life? I was like this is it!” Within five months of learning about coaching, I had set up my business.
Bit off more than I could chew
I gave everything I had to my career as a personal injury adjuster and I had no time or energy left to devote to my own business.
Only One Real Option
Looking at my list of options, and my passion for coaching, there was really only one thing for me to do — develop my coaching business.
1. I serve on the Board of the Youth Community Agency - Youth Community Agency was created to remind people about the teenage mothers that go forgotten about and to encourage other entrepreneurs/organizations to give back to the Detroit community, to show the importance of giving back!
2. I serve on the Board of the Boys Hope Girls Hope Detroit - Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit seeks out these intelligent and ambitious scholars and works to prepare them holistically to succeed in college and become contributing professionals in the community.
Helping Others Succeed
I now help people in a variety of ways. I develop programs that help individuals, entrepreneurs and business owners succeed.
